Mending a broken heart isn’t just about getting over a break up. For University of Central Florida scientist Dinender Singla, it’s also about finding a way to heal the vital organ after a heart attack so patients can enjoy a better quality of life.

Singla’s research focuses on using stem cells to trigger the heart to repair itself after cardiac injury. He will discuss his cutting-edge research at a UCF College of Medicine Luminary Series presentation on Wednesday, Feb. 24. The presentation is free and open to the public, but reservations are required.

The program begins at 5 p.m. at the Orlando Museum of Art, 2416 N. Mills Ave. Singla is scheduled to speak at 6 p.m. RSVPs are required by Friday, Feb. 19, at 407-823-2412 or COMRSVP@mail.ucf.edu.
