Florida has long sought out big biotech as a way to diversify the state’s largely tourism- and real estate-dependent economy.

So, talk now of a $400 million genetic research facility in eastern Collier County, though still uncertain, has local economic observers seeing a potential economic “game changer” for Southwest Florida.

It was back in October of last year that Jackson first expressed interest in Florida.
