For the third time in four years, northern Palm Beach County’s biotech hub centered around the Scripps Research Institute may have supposedly protected land nearby threatened with being swallowed by development that is not science-related.
As part of the 2006 vote to build Scripps in Jupiter, north county leaders promised then-Gov. Jeb Bush they would set aside and protect 8 million square feet of space for spinoff companies drawn here by the research giant.
